The ICAMH is a non-profit association that was founded in 2020. The main objectives of the ICAMH are to aid mental health professionals everywhere, regardless of locale, through the formation of a community of professionals who are available to provide their knowledge and expertise in the mental health field, as well as being able to provide solutions for practitioners facing challenges and barriers in the international mental health field. The ICAMH’s mission is guided by three important principles: equity, diversity, and inclusion and aims to support members of the organization to access equal opportunities and professional development (PD) resources.
This initiative is grounded on the vested interest in assisting mental health practitioners who are working in high-need populations, in war zones and with refugee populations, but who also have limited access to mental health services. The goal of this initiative is to foster future opportunities and empowerment of mental health professionals, which will result in increased accessibility to mental health services, standardization of mental health service practices and changing the overall public perception of mental illness and health.
